Starting a Chat
What you'll do
Open a new conversation with an agent from the Ask Anything panel and ask it to do something for you.
Before you start
- You need to be in a Space where chat has been enabled. If you click Ask Anything and the panel says "Chat is not configured for this space", ask your administrator to turn it on.
Steps
- Click the purple Ask Anything button in the top right of any page. The chat panel slides out on the right.
- To start fresh rather than continuing your last conversation, click the + icon in the panel header.
- If the Space has more than one chat agent available, pick one from the selector at the top of the panel.
- Either click one of the suggestion chips for the page you're on, or type your first message in the composer at the bottom. You can use markdown to format it. If you want a hand, use the inline AI helper to refine the wording before sending.
- Press Send.
What happens next
The reply streams in as the agent thinks. When it finishes:
- The conversation is saved automatically with an auto-generated title — you'll find it in your saved conversations list next time you open the panel.
- If the agent produced a report, table, document, or small interactive page, you'll see it as an Artifact card in the conversation — click to open it in the split view, or switch the panel to Wide mode for more room.
- You can keep the conversation going by typing another message at the bottom. Browse to a different page while the panel is open and the agent picks up the new context for your next message.
If you want to come back to this prompt later, open the message menu and choose Save as prompt. See Saving and Reusing a Prompt.
